Outdoor Classroom, Amphitheatre & Plaza At Ashford Park Elementary School
May 12, 2014 — Ed Voyles Automotive Group became a driving force for Montgomery Elementary School when the company donated $30,000.00 to the school enrichment foundation, The Mustang Fund. The Ed Voyles donation pushes Montgomery’s STEAM fundraising to more than $100,000 toward their ultimate goal of raising $150,000 for the initiative.
“Corporate responsibility and giving back to the communities where we live and work is a large part of the Voyles’ culture,” said Valery Voyles, Chairman and CEO of Ed Voyles. “Education is the future and a passion of our organization.”
“On behalf our board, we are so appreciative of this donation which enables us to take a huge step forward in getting Montgomery Elementary STEAM-ready,” said Mustang Fund and Foundation President Tim Halloran, “It will go toward establishing a fully functioning science lab, technology integration in classrooms, and continuing education in STEAM related subjects for our teachers.”
Montgomery Elementary School announced its plan to become STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) certified in 2013. To date, only three schools in the state of Georgia have achieved STEM certification. Whereas the official state designation is STEM certified, Montgomery’s program will include an Arts component due to the importance of creativity in emerging technology and the existing strength and emphasis on their fine arts program (STEAM). The Mustang Fund is a non-profit 501c-3 foundation whose mission is to support enhancements for the Montgomery Elementary School by enriching the learning environment in every classroom. The fund relies upon individual contributions, corporate donations, and community fundraising events to achieve its mission.
